This painting is inspired by a private garden in Streatley, Berkshire. It is the second painting I have made of this garden, with the first being 'Dougal in The Garden'. The painting is called Poet's Corner because the bench that is featured was used by a poet to recite poetry in the garden. Such a romantic and creative story could not be ignored, and the thought of all that creativity exploding from the mind whilst sitting on the bench in 'Poet's Corner' is the basis of the inspiration. That coupled with drone footage that shows the circular shapes of flower beds and golden grasses like fireworks from above. The diptych follows the rules of the Golden Section, which has been used for centuries in art, but also reflects the mysteries of nature.
